Daryl Gauthier, MA, CDMP, CHRE, is the Director General Human Resources at Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada. Health Canada is the federal department responsible for helping the people of Canada maintain and improve their health, is committed to improving the lives of all of Canada’s people, and to making this country’s population among the healthiest in the world as measured by longevity, lifestyle and effective use of the public health care system. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is the main Government of Canada agency responsible for public health in Canada, with a mission to promote and protect the health of Canadians through leadership, partnership, innovation and action in public health.
Previous roles held by Daryl Gauthier include the Director General role at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), a federal agency providing funding for leading and internationally recognized best in class health research. As a former Director of Human Resources at Canada Post, he led significant transformational projects for the organization (for example, the introduction of the new Short Term Disability Program and the modernization of Workers’ Compensation Programs nationally). At Canada Post he held previous roles as Senior Business Partner, Director Disability Management, and Director AccessHR (Canada Post’s transactional HR and employee Call Centre), as well as Director Human Resources at epost (Canada Post’s electronic postal service). He has a Master of Arts in Theology from Saint Paul University, and a Master of Divinity in Theology from the University of Toronto. In addition to his graduate degrees, he holds the CHRE (Certified Human Resources Executive) and CDMP (Certified Disability Management Professional) designations, as well as specialty designations in Compensation, Benefits and Worklife Balance, and has completed the Ivey Executive Development Program at the University of Western Ontario.
